A Mobile Photography Conference?

1197

October 22nd in San Francisco

We're proud to announce 1197, a one-day conference about iPhoneography and mobile photography. As we've been pushing outside research into more creative UX work, and doing portraits of mobile participants in the field, we've found ourselves fascinated with the accessibility and quality of mobile photos.

If you're into UX, and understand the role that visual capture is playing in mobile interface design, you might love this event. Also, if you like taking pictures on your phone, come hang out. We're putting this on in partnership with our friends at Blurb. Here are some highlights:

**  Emmy Award-winning U.C. Berkeley Professor Richard Koci Hernandez will be teaching a morning workshop, along with the awesome Dan Cristea.

**  The creator of the first camera phone, Philippe Kahn, will bring the actual first camera phone ever built. It was first used on June 11th, 1997, which is where we derived the name "1197".

**  Teru Kuwayama tracked the U.S. 1st Battalion, Eighth Marines during their deployment to Afghanistan, and will share the images he captured on his iPhone.

**  Our friend Jessica Zollman, Community Evangelist at Instagram, will be giving a talk "Mobile Photography: Who Gives a Fuck?"

**  Attend remotely for only $10, where you can observe live and participate in live contest submissions using the hashtag #1197is! Register here.

And as a reader of the B|P newsletter, we'd like to offer you a 10% discount. Please use the code TOTALGENIUS when you register. We think it's likely to sell out on the soon side.
